JULY 2007

JULY 2007
CAMPO LIMPO PAULISTA – SÃO PAULO – BRAZIL

" For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."(Jeremiah 29.11NVI).

DEAR PRAYER PARTNERS AND SUPPORTERS,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from your co-workers to the Portuguese-Speaking world!
HERE ARE SOME REASONS FO
R PRAISING OUR LORD:
Monica’s Health:
It looks like Monica’s Doctor was able to find the right medication for her and the right dose, too. She is feeling well and her Doctor allowed her to start exercising, which she enjoys so much. Thanks for your prayers!
Elena’s Health:Thanks for praying for Elena’s health; she is still recovering, but she is doing better. Please continue to pray for our forwarding agent!

(The new bus)

Bus: Thanks for your prayers! God blessed us with a buyer for the van; we sold it for $3,870.76, and bought a 1987, 45-passenger bus, for $9,828.00. The bus has been a blessing for the ministry! We serve a mighty God!

Construction at CLP (Campo Limpo Paulista) Church: We are still working to finish all the construction work, working on the final details. Soon wewill have the wall with the names of those who helped with their gifts for this purpose, and we will be sending the pictures. As you know, all the work is volunteer, so it takes longer to get it done, but slowly we're getting there!

Leadership Meeting:The first Saturday of each month, we meet at CLP church, with leaders from the RLM churches in the state of Sao Paulo. In May (May 5) I spoke on "Investing in Relationships" and in June (June 2) on "Mentoring Beyond of What Your Eyes Can See".

Children Ministry: Monica meets with the Children's Ministry Leaders and workers from the RLM churches in Sao Paulo, at the same time we meet with the leaders each first Saturday.

Visit from BCC (May 15-21): We received a visit from Scott Brand and Larry Bertram from BCC (Bethany Christian Church) in Bumpass, VA. During their visit Scott spoke at our Friday night and Sunday Service; Larry gave his testimony at the Sunday Service. They helped in many ways during the time they were here. In the near future, they will bring a team from their church for a short term mission’s trip in Brazil. We thank the Lord for their visit; they were a blessing for us!

Evangelistic Event (May 19): We had over 300 present for this event, including four youth groups from different churches. Seven young people gave their lives to Christ. The worship team from CLP led the music; Monica’s brother Fabiano (a professional drummer) played the drums, and Glauco, a brother from Jundiai, brought the message. It was a blessing!

Birthday Party (June 9): June 16th was Isaac’s 10th birthday. Since I (Jeff) was going to be out of town on that date, we celebrated his birthday on Saturday the 9th. Both of our boys are very involved in the ministry; Roger takes care of the sound at church, and Isaac is the drummer of the worship team.

Theology Up-Date (June 13-15): In June every year, the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in Brazil offer this meeting for the leaders from churches at the camp in Brasilia. The theme this year was "Making Disciples"! The speakers were Kerry Allan from Person to Person Ministries (Hillsboro, OH, USA) and Abe Huber from Igreja da Paz (Peace Church) of One to One Ministries (Foratleza, CE, Brazil). I was asked to translate for Kerry for the three times he spoke. The conference was a great blessing!

Brazil River of Life Ministries’ Annual Meeting (June 16): Since we have RLM churches in 6 different states of Brazil we schedule our annual meeting for the same time as the Theology Up-Date. Brasilia is in the center of Brazil, which makes it easer for us to meet. We met at the Sitio do Gama (Residencial Santos Dummont) one of RLM churches. At this meeting we voted for the national board for the next two years. Here are the new board of directors: Jeff Fife from CLP Church (Sao Paulo) – President; Uriel Silva from Monte Castelo Church (Rio Grande do Norte) – Vice-President; Euflavio Mendes from Sitio do Gama Church (Brasilia) – 1st Secretary; Edmonte Lima from Valparaiso Church (Goias) – 2nd Secretary; Odelmo Nascente from Pirituba Church (Sao Paulo) – 1st Treasurer; and Gilberto Alves from Carrãozinho Church (Sao Paulo) – 2nd Treasurer.

Visiting Churches (June 17): I spoke at Plano Piloto Church (Brasilia) which Lloyd David Sanders planted, (and still works there) on Sunday Morning Service; brother Edson Goveia is the minister there. Also, I spoke at 06:00 p.m. at Sitio do Gama Church and at 07:30 p.m., at Valpariso Church. It was a busy Sunday, but God gave me grace!

Men’s Breakfast (June 24): At CLP Church I spoke on "The Reasons Why Men are Not Free". It was a very special meeting!

Conquista Church Anniversary (June 30): All four RLM churches in Sao Paulo were present for this celebration; the place was packed and people were standing on the side walk.

Winter Vacation: Roger and Isaac are enjoying their winter school vacation from July 1st to the 31st. We will take a week off during this time for family time; we are not sure yet of the dates - probably the last week!

HERE ARE SOME SPECIFIC PRAYER REQUESTS & UPCOMING EVENTS:

Leadership and Children Ministry Meeting (July 7): At CLP Church for all RLM Churches in the state of Sao Paulo!

Visit to the Northeast RLM Churches (July 16-18): I (Jeff) will be visiting 4 churches during this time. Pray for travel mercies; from Sao Paulo to the Northeast I’ll go by plane but I’ll be traveling every day from city to city. The last time I was traveling in this area of the country, the bus I was riding in was highjacked for almost 3 hours by robbers, and they took all the belongings of everyone in the bus.

Evangelistic Event (July 21): This will be an outreach for youth!

Women’s Tea (July 28): This will be an outreach for the women; Monica and the ladies at church are preparing this event.

More Prayer Requests: Pray that God will give us the opportunity to reach people for HIS Kingdom! Pray that the Lord will give us good health! Pray that the Lord will provide all the funds needed. Please pray that the Lord will keep giving us wisdom and discernment, so we can accomplish what He has called us to do. To Him be all honor and glory!

Your prayers and financial support are vital for our lives and ministry! Thanks for your prayers and support!

God is good all the time and all the time God is Good!

In HIS Love and Service,

Jeff, Monica,
Roger, and Isaac Fife
