Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,
Greetings from your coworkers
to the Portuguese-Speaking World!
Happy New Year to all! We
started 2014 with great expectations to see what the Lord has in store for
BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries). After all the Christmas celebrations,
Monica and I (Jeff) left for Brazil!
Let
us share with you some ministry highlights:
River
of Life Leadership Summit
BROLM promoted the First River
of Life Leadership Summit at Pirituba on Dec 28. Leaders came from churches in
Fortaleza, CE; Valpariso, GO; Santos Dumont, DF; and all member churches in São
Paulo. On Friday Dec27, the leaders who had arrived visited the Campo Limpo
Paulista Church.
The summit started the next
morning at 10 a.m. where brother Pedro (Fortaleza) spoke about Starting and Maintaining Small Groups. After
lunch Monica and I spoke on Leading with
Conflict in a Biblical Way. At 4 p.m. we had a great service, with worship
and Communion, and I preached on Spiritual
Growth the theme for 2014 based on 1 Peter 3:18. The Summit was a blessing
and our leaders are asking about our next encounter.
On Sunday morning, Dec 29, all
the leaders went to the Jundiai Church service. Right after the service, we all
went to the Bom Retiro Church and had lunch, followed by an afternoon service.
In the evening, Brother Edgard from Valparaiso went with his family to Campo
Limpo Paulista Church where he preached. Brother Luiz, from Santos Duomont
Church, went with his family to Sao Mateus Church where he preached. And
Brother Pedro, from the Fortaleza Church, went with his wife to Pirituba Church
where he preached. On Monday everyone went back to their homes. It was a very
busy, but very blessed weekend!
Jundiai
Church Baptism
On Dec 29, Guilherme and Victor
were baptized. They are members at the Jundiai Church, however, they used the
baptistery at the Campo Limpo Pulaista Church during their evening service.
12
Day of Purpose Seminar
On Jan 1, all BROLM churches
started the 12 Days of Purpose
seminar. We have been doing this on the first 12 days of the year since 2006.
During these 12 days we introduce and teach on the year’s theme. These are also
days of great fellowship and blessing!

Mateus Church
On Jan 5, Monica and I visited
Sunday School at Sao Mateus Church.
25th
Wedding Anniversary
On Jan 7, Monica and I
celebrated our anniversary! We are so grateful that God brought us through all
the storms of life together and kept us faithful to each other. God is good!
Campo
Limpo Paulista Church Anniversary
On Jan 25, the Campo Limpo
Paulista Church celebrated their 9th anniversary. We are so grateful
for all that the Lord has done, is doing, and will continue to do through this
church.
Baptism
Fortaleza Church
On Feb 1, Brother Pedro
baptized his youngest daughter Joana.
Pray
for the Simonette Family
On Tuesday night, Feb 5, while
brother Jose Simonette, minister at Campo Limpo Pualista Church, was going home
from a small group home meeting with his wife Ana and their 15 year old
daughter Heloisa, two men in another car approach their vehicle with guns drawn.
Brother Jose stopped and the two men robed his family. They assaulted Jose and wanted
to kidnap his daughter and take his car. Immediately the family started to
pray. When the men saw that Jose had $300 in his wallet (money he was going to use
to pay the mechanic for car repairs), they just took the money and fled the
scene. We are thankful that the Simonette family is alive and that the thieves
did not take Heloisa or the car. However, this was a terrible experience and
they will need emotional healing. Please pray for the Simonette family!

Campaign
To reach BRoLM’S budget for
2014, we still need 17 new or current individuals/churches to start/increase their
support with $50 a month. Please pray
and consider participating in this challenge.

“Hands
On” Bible College
Classes resume this month in Brazil.
We do not have classes in December and January because they are summer months
in Brazil.
I am planning to leave Brazil for
Mozambique on Aug 5, from Mozambique to Angola on Aug 12, from Angola to Guine
Bissau on Aug 19, and back to Brazil on Aug 26. I will be teaching at the
“Hands ON” Bible Colleges in these locations. Please pray for these plans!
The 2014 “Hands On” Bible
College budget is for the purpose of reaching 4 Portuguese-Speaking countries: Angola,
Brazil, Guina Bissau and Mozambique. The
total is $13,860. Praise the Lord we
have already received $11,050, but we still need $2,810 more to reach this goal.
Please consider a onetime gift for this important ministry! Thanks!
God is doing great
things through BRoLM, and your prayers and support are vital! Please continue
to pray so the Lord will use BRoLM more and more for His honor and glory!
