Dear
Friends and Prayer Warriors,
Greetings from your coworkers
to the Portuguese-Speaking World!
As the psalmist declared, we
also declare that the Lord is our strength and shield, we trust Him with all of
our heart, He has helped us, and thus, our hearts are filled with joy. We could not react in any other way, but to
burst out in songs of thanksgiving for all the Lord has done, is doing and will
do through us for His honor and glory.
Thanks for being one of the many reasons for our songs of thanksgiving. Thanks for your prayers and financial
support, they are vital for us! Happy
Thanksgiving!
Here are some
highlights from October 2013
Children’s Day:
Brazil has a national day for
almost everything; however, one of the most celebrated is Children’s Day on Oct
12. Thus, every year we take the
opportunity to make Children’s Outreaches in Oct.
Campo
Limpo Paulista, Jundiai and Varzea Paulista Churchs:
Since these three churches are
located approximately 30 minutes’ drive from each other, and even though they
are in three different cities, they got together at Jundiai and did a big
children’s outreach on Oct. 12. They
rented playground equipment and provided transportation for the children! It was a blast!
Pirituba Church:
This was a big event for the
Pirituba Church, since the church is being restored and has not done any
children's outreach for years. It was a
great blessing to see the members work as a team! The event was a blessing!
Sao Mateus Church:
Did a sleep over event at the
church, the children arrived on Oct 11 and stayed at the church the whole day
on Oct 12, they had a lot of fun!
Mozambique:
Please, pray for
Mozambique. When Mozambique became free
from Portugal’s colonization in 1974, the north and south had a civil war until
1992 to see who was going to be in power.
After a lot of negations the south took power and the north leader
received aid from the new government.
However, every time there is an election the opposition from the north
tries to restart the civil war. This
year they were more aggressive than in the past elections; they have burned
cars, trucks, trains, houses, etc. in the central states of the country. Towards Election Day, Nov 20, the opposition
started to make attacks in the north close to Nampula were the Hope Mission is
located. During the civil war Nampula
was the headquarters for the opposition.
Election Day went well with some manifestations and lots of military on
the streets; however, the election in Nampula was cancelled and they will be
voting again on Dec 1. Please, pray for
peace!
Now some good news from
Mozambique; on Oct 20, five brothers were ordained into the pastoral ministry
and three to the evangelistic ministry.
Each one of these pastors not only pastors a local church, but they
oversee several evangelists that are planting churches. Currently there are 78 churches planted by
the Hope Mission in the Northeast of Mozambique.
20/50 Campaign:
Last month we started this
financial campaign so we can reach the support needed for BRoLM’s ministry
goals in 2014. We did receive some
one-time gifts last month; that was a great help. One of our supporting
churches increased their support for 2014 to $500 per year ($41.67 per month),
what a blessing! Also, a couple accepted
the challenge and will support BRoLM with $100 per month. Thus, for the 20/50
campaign we only need 17 new supporters or the individuals/churches that
already supports to add just $50 more each month to their contribution. We can do this with your help; please, pray
and consider this challenge!
“Hands On” Bible College:
Last year at this time we were
trying to raise funds to keep the “Hands On” Bible College running in Brazil
and to launch the “Hands On” Bible College in Mozambique. We were blessed through your prayers and
contributions and this goal became reality.
In 2014 we have a greater challenge; we have received a request from
brother Cirilo Bamba, leader of the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in
Angola to come and launch the “Hands On” Bible College in Angola. We have received a request from Luciano
Rodrigues, Brazilian missionary supported by Hisportic Christian Mission, for
us to come and help him launch the “Hands On” Bible College in Guine
Bissau. And we have to continue with the
“Hands On” Bible College in Brazil and Mozambique.
The budget for the “Hands On”
Bible College for 2014, for us to reach 4 Portuguese-Speaking countries, is
$13,860. We have received $8,000 for this purpose, praise the Lord, but we
still need $5,860 to reach this
goal. Please, consider a onetime gift
for this purpose! Thanks!
God is doing great things
through BRoLM, and your prayers and support are vital! Please, continue to pray
so the Lord will use BRoLM more and more for His honor and glory!
May the Lord richly
bless you in Christ Jesus! Thanks!
God is good, all the
time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,
Jeff & Monica Fife
