HOW LONG SERVING ON THIS FIELD:
Monica and I have serving in the Portuguese-Speaking World together for 28 years. BROLM been serving this same people group since 2001.

ORIGINAL TIME COMMITMENT TO THIS MINISTRY AND CURRENT TIME COMMITMENT TO THIS MINISTRY:
Our original commitment to this ministry is for life and it continues to be for life.

TYPE (S) OF MINISTRY:
Evangelism, Church Planting, Equipping/Discipling, Missionary Assistance, Benevolence, Missionary Preparation, Translation Services, Counseling and Short Term Missions.

MINISTRY MISSION STATEMENT:
Mission: Reach the Portuguese-Speaking world for Jesus Christ so they can reach the rest of the world.
Vision: Reach the lost through Evangelism, Mentor and Equip through Discipleship, Plant New Churches, Provide Assistance and Justice where needed.

IN THE PAST YEAR, NON-CHRISTIAN INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE BECOME CHRISTIAN INDIVIDUALS AS A RESULT OF THE WORK WITH WHICH GOD HAS ENTRUSTED BROLM:  Over 300

GOD’S WORK THROUGH THE MINISTRY OF THE PAST YEAR:
1. BROLM is accomplishing its goals through evangelism, discipleship (personal discipleship and “Hands On” Bible College) and new church plants, promoting social work and justice where needed.
2. During this year BROLM promoted an average of 3 evangelistic outreaches per month throughout the churches that BROLM has planted in the Southeast, Midwest and Northeast of Brazil.
2. BROLM offers monthly discipleship materials to all the BROLM churches and to many other Christian Churches throughout the Portuguese-Speaking World.
3. The “Hands On” Bible College is being offered at 4 BROLM congregations in the Southeast, 1 in the Midwest and 1 in the Northeast. BROLM coordinates the “Hands On” Bible College at Mozambique and Portugal, where Jeff and Monica had the opportunity this year to visit and teach.
4. BROLM is helping plant the church in Areias, Recife. At the same time, BROLM is preparing two teams to plant two new churches—one in Moraguape and another in Fortaleza.
5. Since Jeff and Monica moved full-time back to Brazil in May 2015, they have invested their time in strengthening the leadership at the local churches. Thus they have promoted several leadership training events, they visited all the churches and are encouraged to see each of them growing. This year alone, just in the churches in Brazil, there were over 100 baptisms.
6. During the visit to Portugal, Jeff assisted in planting two new churches.
7. BROLM has been giving assistance to the work in Mozambique since 2003 where they celebrated 20 years of ministry in Oct 2016. When BROLM started to give them guidance, they had less them 30 churches and today they have planted 72 churches. They had a grade school with less them 200 students, today the school has 1070 students. They started a childrens home that has over 70 children. And, they had about 200 members in 2003 in the church—and now have over 2000. This year they have baptized over 200 new converts to Christ.
8. This year Jeff and Monica also had the opportunity to speak at the International Convention of the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in Korea.
9. Jeff is also pastoring two local churches, Pirituba and Bom Retiro. New pastors are currently being trained to pastor these and other churches through the “Hands On” Bible College.
10. BROLM also promoted the third National Leadership Summit where pastor Ron Key from Cornerstone Christian Church was the speaker.
11. Itty Bitty Seed Ministries, a team from Seymour Heights Christian Church, led by pastor Bob Berry, also visited BROLM southeast churches this year.
11. God provided BROLM with the great blessing of purchasing almost 6 acres of land to build a retreat/camp.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST YEAR:
Monica and I are very happy to see our sons growing and maturing, however more important, it has been to see their commitment with the Lord!
We were looking forward to coming back full-time to Brazil and God allowed that to happen in May 2015.  It is great to be back in the field doing what God has called us to do!
Overall, the biggest highlight in our personal lives is to be found by God to be worthy, and it is He that makes us worthy, to work for Him in His Kingdom! In spite of us, He is merciful and He uses us for his honor and glory!
God has blessed us tremendously to see so many souls reached for Christ and His kingdom growing. It is an honor to be used by God in His Kingdom!

CURRENT FURLOUGH PLANS:
Monica and I will be in the USA from Nov 14 to Dec 07, 2017 and you would like for us to visit, please, give us a date during the days we will be in the USA and we will be happy to report to you at this opportunity. Thanks!

CURRENT FINANCIAL SITUATION AND RETIREMENT PLAN:
See below BROLM 2015 Audit Financial Report and 2017 Budget.
We have an IRA retirement plan and we pay social security.

GOALS AND VISION FOR THE NEXT YEAR:
1. Continue to help the local congregations and future church plants evangelistic outreach.
2. Continue to produce monthly discipleship material for the local congregations and other churches throughout the Portuguese-Speaking World.
3. Continue to offer the “Hands On” Bible College at the local congregations in Brazil, Mozambique, and Portugal. The goal is to offer the “Hands On” Bible College at all BROLM Churches; for this to become a reality we are training new teachers. Jeff is scheduled to travel to Angola in May and to Guinea Bissau in September to launch the “Hands On” Bible College in those countries.
4. We are praying the two BROLM church planting teams in Maraguape and Fortaleza will be ready to go this year. Maraguape will be planted the first semester of 2017, and Fortaleza in the second semester.
5. Promote leadership training by visiting the local churches and encouraging them.
6. Promote the fourth national Leadership Summit where the speakers will be Dr. Wilber Reid from Johnson University and Journey Christian Church, Mark Haga from Colonial Heights Christian Church, LeAnne Blackmore and Amy Crawford from First Christian Church Johnson City. Dr. John Green from FCC-JC is not confirmed, but he may be one of the speakers too.
7. Jeff was invited to speak at one of the main sessions and to conduct a workshop at the World Convention in India in January. He and Monica will leave Brazil Jan 10th and will return on the 17th.
8. Jeff and Monica intend to attend ICOM 2017, thus they plan to be in the USA from Nov 14 to Dec 07.
9. Raise funds and start building the retreat/camp.

CURRENT PRAYER NEEDS, FAMILY NEEDS, AND FINANCIAL NEEDS:
Please, pray for Monicas health she has had many health problems through the years and in the last 3 months she has had many of the same symptoms that she used to have before she had the brain tumor removed in 2008.
Pray for our sons Roger and Isaac who are studying in the USA. Roger feels that his calling is teaching and he is being prepared for that and Isaac has a calling for missions and he is being prepared for that.
Pray that will give me (Jeff) wisdom to do Gods will and lead the ministry among the Portuguese-Speaking World with good health for His honor and glory.
Please, pray for each church and church leaders for God to give them wisdom to do His will.
We are in many ways attacked by Satan. The battles are many, but we know that Satan and his kingdom are defeated in Jesus name. We all need to keep our focus as we have seen his big trick is to take us off course attempting to change our focus. Thus we need your prays to “deliver us from the evil one”.
To launch the “Hands On” Bible College in Angola, Guinea Bissau and other local churches in Brazil and to keep the “Hands On” Bible College in all the locations in Brazil, Portugal, and Mozambique we need $10,000.
To plant the two new churches (Maraguape and Fortaleza) we need a one-time gift of $6,000 for each and we already have received $4,255.00 for this purpose, thus we still need $7,745 for this purpose.
To build the first phase of the retreat/camp we need to raise $120,000. This first phase will make it possible to accommodate 100 campers.
We believe, all of our current supporters will continue supporting BROLM in 2017. If that is the case, we will be able to maintain the ongoing ministries without any extra funding; however, the “Hands On” Bible College and the new church plants are urgent needs. We also believe that God will continue to be gracious and will permit us to build the retreat/camp—all for His honor and glory.

April 2016

April 2016

I will not violate my covenant, or alter the word that went forth from my lips. Psalm 89:34 (NRSV)

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-speaking world!
It is great to serve a God that keeps His covenant and does not alter the word that He has spoken. Our task is to be faithful to Him as He is to us; thus in 2016 we continue to try our best to fulfill His call on our lives, being faithful to Him and His Kingdom, believing in all His promises--because He is faithful to fulfill them!

Here are some ministry highlights since our last report:

Pirituba’s Youth Gathering
The Pirituba Church Youth Group gathered at our home at the end of the year for a day of lots of fellowship and worship. When we bought the home back in 2008, when Monica had the brain tumor surgery and she needed to stay away from the big city noise, one of our dreams was to use the place to gather God’s people. Through the years the youth, adolescents, children, ladies, men, and worship ministries from the churches have all come and spent a day at our home. However, our dream is to have a place that  is bigger, that belongs to the ministry, where people can stay overnight and even for a few days--a retreat or  camp facility. God has started to provide the funds for this purpose and we believe soon we will be able to purchase the land. To purchase the land and start building we need at least $120,000. God has provided $63,500 for this purpose, thus the cup is past half full! God is good! Pray with us for the funds for the retreat! Thanks!

 Birthday Celebration
The Pirituba church did a surprise birthday party for my (Jeff) 50th birthday. Since Monica and I took 10 days vacation, Dec 21 to 31, the party was on Sunday Dec 20, my birthday is Dec 23.

12 Days of Purpose
Since 2006, in January of each year, the churches in alliance with River of Life, have 12 services focusing on the year’s theme. The 2016 theme is #MultiplyingTalents (Mathew 25:21). The HOBC (Hands On Bible College) students were the speakers for this year. I (Jeff) spoke for the first and the last day in Pirituba, and I spoke once at Jundiai, once at Campo Limpo Paulista and once at Sao Mateus churches and I spoke the 12 days at Bom Retiro (Bom Retiro is the only church that we do not have the HOBC.) At the churches in the Centro-West and Northeast of Brazil, the local minister with their elders and HOBC students spoke. During the 12 days in Pirituba, Monica drew a picture of Jesus!

 Visit from Cornerstone
Brother Ron Key, senior minister at Cornerstone Christian Church visited us from Jan 23 to Feb 1. On Sunday Jan 24, Ron preached in the morning service at Campo Limpo Paulista Church, in the afternoon at Bom Retiro Church, and in the evening at Sao Mateus Church. Monday Jan 25 was a holiday--the city of Sao Paulo’s 462 birthday--and we took the day to see several sites in the city. On Tuesday Jan 26, we left early in the morning to Rio de Janeiro and visited several tour sites. On Wednesday Jan 27, Ron preached at Pirituba's mid-week service; on Thursday Jan 28, at Jundiai; and Friday and Saturday Jan 29-30, Ron spoke at the Annual Brazil River of Life Leadership Summit. On Saturday evening Ron preached at Campo Limpo Paulista's 11th Anniversary. On Sunday Jan 31, he preached in the morning service at Jundiai Church, in the afternoon at Bom Retiro Church and in the evening at Pirituba Church. On Monday Feb 1st, he went back to Dallas, TX. We guess he was ready to go home, after speaking 15 times in 10 days! We were tremendously blessed and encouraged with Ron’s visit--his messages spoke deeply to all that heard him.

Baptism
After the service at Bom Retiro Church, Sunday Jan 24, we all went to Pirituba’s Church to use their baptistery. Three were baptized.  Daniela was raised Presbyterian and is engaged to Samuel Park, the son of the head elder, Pedro Park, of Bom Retiro Church. She has been coming to church since last August and when she heard that we were going to have a baptism, she said she wanted to be baptized. Brother Park baptized her. I’ll be celebrating Samuel and Daniela’s wedding on June 25.
Sergio, youth leader, baptized Michel and Gustavo also!

 Leadership Summit
Every year BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries) promotes the Leadership Summit to provide an opportunity for all the leaders from the churches to get together to refresh, to share with each other, and fellowship. This year it was on Jan 29 and 30. Brothers Bruno from Recife, PE, Luiz from Santos Dumont, DF, and Edgar from Valparaiso, GO, came from other states. There were several leaders from the Bom Retiro, Campo Limpo Paulista, Jundiai, Pirituba and Sao Mateus Churches. Brother Ron Key spoke 6 times and the leaders were very encouraged. Each local church was responsible for a meal or a snack; it was a great time. The summit was at Campo Limpo Paulista Church. Our dream is to have the retreat/camp for next summit, so we can have everyone stay at one location the whole time and have more time to know each other and share experiences.

Campo Limpo Paulista 11th Anniversary
It is great to see a church that God used you to plant continue to grow for His honor and glory. Jose Simonette, one of the first graduates of Hands On Bible College, is the senior minister. He and the elders Edgar, Michel and Domingos are doing a great job. Michel and Domingos are also graduates of the HOBC and Michel is the professor at the HOBC in Campo Limpo Paulista. We have seen 2 Timothy 2:2 become a reality at Campo Limpo Paulista Church. Two were baptized during the anniversary celebration; this was also a great highlight.

Brazil Ministry Transportation
A big highlight was to reach the goal to purchase the much- needed van for the ministry in Brazil. Once again God was faithful and we had the van paid off in January! The van is a great blessing for the ministry.

Hands On Bible College in Portugal and Mozambique
Monica, Isaac and I will leave Brazil to fly to Portugal on April 26. We will be participating in the regular services at the churches in Carcavelos, and Lisbon, and I will be teaching at the Hands On Bible College. We will leave Portugal on May 3 to fly to Mozambique. During the time we will be in Mozambique, I will be teaching the leaders from the 72 churches and see how the HOBC is doing in Nampula. We are trying to get permission from the Mozambican government to bring the HOBC material from Brazil (40 books). Monica will be working at the grade school and with the women's ministry. Isaac will work with the youth and will conduct a soccer workshop at the school. We should be back in Brazil on May 14.

God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,                      Thanks for praying for us!
