4 But when
the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under
the law, 5 in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might
receive adoption as children. Galatians 4:4-5 (NRSV)
Dear Friends and Prayer
Warriors,
Greetings
from your coworkers to the Portuguese-Speaking World!
God
waited until history reached the appointed time, and sent Jesus. At the right
time—Roman government, Jewish subordination, good roads, freedom, a degree of
security, a broad commercial-use language, cruel and barbaric punishments
accompanied by religious rivalry. In times like these, He sent his Son to be the
son of a woman. He emptied His house so that he could send a redeemer to our house.
He did this so we could be His children; not pretend children, but real
children, with all rights. Not only so He could be our God but also our Father.
What a privilege to call the Creator Father! This is only possible because He
sent His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ.
Let us share with you some ministry highlights:
Women’s
Outreach
In
September the church in Sao Mateus promoted a Women’s Outreach. This church has
grown a lot among the youth, however, Patricia, Gilberto’s (minister) wife does
a great job in leading the women and she has been able to reach many women for
the Lord.
Couple’s
Outreach
The new
church plant in Recife promoted a couple’s outreach in November. Bruno
(minister) and his wife Luciene have a passion for couple’s ministry and this
is the second couple’s retreat they promoted this year. This has been a great
way to reach new people to come to this new church plant and they have seen
many marriages being healed.
Pirituba’s
Church Anniversary
The
Pirituba church was the first church we helped plant back in 1992. This church
has gone through a lot during the 22 years of its existence, however it
continues to strive for God’s honor and glory. This is the church that I (Jeff)
was asked to come back and pastor in 2012. It has been a time of healing for
the church members, however, we are seeing real growth and are very happy to
see what God is doing —especially through the youth ministry. If you look
closely at the picture you will see that I was preaching through Webex and
using Power Point. Technology used for God’s glory is a blessing! Please
continue to pray for a total restoration of the Pirituba church. Monica and I
will be going to Brazil on January 6, 2015, so we can invest more time at this
church.
2015
New Church Plant Goals
For 2015
BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries) is raising an extra $12,000 for church
plants. The plan is to help plant two new churches with this one-time gift. We
are happy to announce that BROLM has received $7,000 for this purpose. Would
you please, consider helping us raise the remaining $5,000 so BROLM can plant
two new churches in 2015?
Hope
School Mozambique
The school
year at the Hope School in Mozambique ended with a parent/teacher meeting. The
school year starts in February and ends in November. The school offers classes from
1st to 8th grade, and this year they had 1070 students; the capacity of the
school is 1000 students. 98% of the students who study at the Hope School are
Muslims and they are learning about Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. For these
students the Hope School is the only option they have to learn how to read and
write. During the second week of December the school opened for 2015
registration and they had 1000 students registered in 4 days. If they had more space
to offer more classes they could register at least 1500 students. Please pray
for the Hope School!
Hope
Mission Water Well
When
the Hope Mission moved from Napipine to Namicopo in Nampula, Mozambique in
2006, there was a possibility that they would have city water at the new
location. However, that has not happened. The truth is that Nampula does not
have water in over 60% of the city and the locations that do have city water do
not have any water pressure; thus the Hope Mission needs a well. This well will
serve the 1000+ students who study at the Hope School, the 100+ boys and girls
who live at the Hope Home, and will serve over 10 families of teachers and
evangelists who live at the Mission. It will also make it possible for them to
have agriculture and some animals too.
The
cost to dig the well is $12,000 and the cost for the water pump and pipes is
$3,000 for a total of $15,000. We have already been blessed with a gift of $1,000
for this purpose, but we still need $14,000. Would you please consider helping
us with this project?
God is doing great things through BROLM among the Portuguese-Speaking
World, and your prayers and support
are vital! Please continue to pray so the Lord will use BROLM more and more for His
honor and glory!
Monica and I would like to thank you for your prayers and financial support during 2014.
Everything the Lord did through BROLM
in 2014 was because people like you accepted His called to pray and financially support us! We need you to continue praying and
financially supporting BROLM in 2015.
May the Lord richly bless you in Christ Jesus!
God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,
Thanks for praying for us!
