Report of October 2021

  • Our Staff

We are blessed to have a functioning board in the USA. They are a blessing in our staff and all the volunteers we have in each of the churches and ministries within BROLM. Our staff is composed by Jeff Fife, the executive director and on field director. Accompanying over 30 years of marriage and ministry together Monica Fife (Jeff’s wife), teaches in the Hands on Bible College where people are being built to be future leaders and faithful active members in the churches of Brazil and to the Portuguese-speaking world. Isaac Fife works as the director of the youth ministry mentoring the youth leaders of the five churches in Sao Paulo, Brazil, works as a disciple pastor with the members of the churches, and with the monthly reports of BROLM. Our newest member Roger Fife works full time on his personal job, but also helps the ministry by being the stateside representative. We are blessed to have such an active organization for the will of Jesus Christ be done through our lives.

  • Pirituba’s Birthday

On the 23rd of October we celebrated 28 years of the church in Pirituba. Where can I start about this amazing night! All the five churches of Sao Paulo participated and we had a special presentation from the youth of Pirituba. And the most important part was when the five churches together took communion, we knew that Christ Jesus was present with us. We are blessed to work with amazing volunteers that search daily and practice being the bride of Christ Jesus.

  • Our Missionaries

We are blessed to have amazing missionaries. The main focus of them is to make disciples that make disciples who make disciples of our King Jesus Christ. We have Jeff and Monica where our base in the Portuguese-speaking world is located (with the help of Roger and Isaac). Out of the five churches in Sao Paulo 10% of the income of each church goes to missions (mission minded congregations). In Mozambique, we have kleber and Juracema who just celebrated 25 years working for the Gospel to be known and lived (go read our report of September 2021 to know more about Hope School in Mozambique, more than a school! The file is attached). Also, in the northern part of Brazil we have Josimar and Helena proclaiming Christ Jesus to the Yanomani’s indigenous. They have translated parts of the New Testament into their dialect (see report of November 2021 next Month).

Report of September 2021

Update: We have so many challenges and opportunities through our non-profit organization. We are blessed to have your support through prayers and financial support! Starting with this monthly report, we will focus on three areas that Brazil River of Life Ministries works with. If you want to know more about what we do please contact us by emailing isaac@brolm.org , roger@brolm.org , or fife@brolm.org We will be happy to share what God has been doing through BROLM and the needs of our non-profit.

  • Food Baskets:

Through your support in this time of need, we have the opportunity to give food baskets. We want to share how much you all have helped and can continue helping these families that do not even have the basic necessities to have food during the month or even the week.

  • Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have donated over 2,000 food baskets.

  • In this period of time, we have helped over 300 families.

  • We are helping an average of 50 families monthly.

We ask the question; Why do we have this huge need in the city and state of Sao Paulo, Brazil?

  • So many people have lost their jobs through this pandemic time, and until today they are jobless. A lot of stores and businesses were closed because of bankruptcy. These families have the need for food baskets, because without them they would be starving right now. They would have zero possibilities of having a meal a day, but thanks to the Lord our God and your help we have been the hands and feet of Jesus in these families' lives. And, we have a huge problem in Brazil with the inflation of the cost of the food baskets. The food baskets we were purchasing with $15.00 now cost $18.00. We need your help, these families need your help.

  • 25 years of Mozambique:

We are celebrating 25 years of the Ministry in Mozambique through the work of Hope school with our missionaries Kleber and Juracema! Interesting fact,  with your support and 10% of all the offering from the BROLM churches in Brazil goes to missions such as this one in Mozambique, that continues a strong work on different areas of ministries across the Portuguese-Speaking world.

  • Discipleship (over 50 leaders and disciples of them in each of the 147 churches). These 50 leaders meet monthly with Kleber (Missionary) for Biblical doctrine and discipleship.

  • Church planting (We have 147 churches in Mozambique).

  • Hope school (they have an average of 920 students from elementary to middle school). Because of the pandemic, we had to decrease the amount of students.

  • Sending missionaries to the villages and places where the Gospels are unknown (There are 11 locations Villages, cities, and counties, where the Gospel is unknown and there is the dream of reaching the more northern areas).

  • We have housing at the Hope school for the students who were homeless (We have 65 students between kids, teenagers, and youth in the housing at Hope School).

And, always seeking towards the needs of the society.

  • Discipleship:

We see discipleship as an important area of our ministry. We want to share one principle that we actively work on day by day. Paul in the letter to the Corinthians says; “to follow his example as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). Our ultimate and perfect example is Christ Jesus and He is the one we ultimately follow. However, we are not perfect as Jesus and we are sinners. So, we follow the example of people, mentors, and leaders in the way they follow Jesus Christ.

Report of August 2021

  • God continues to do amazing things in the midst of tragedy.

  • On the 9th Jamie Leaverton left Brazil after an amazing internship with BROLM this past summer. In her own words Jamie said; “Thank you so much for your support and prayers! You all have made a huge impact in my internship! During the internship, I have experienced Brazilian culture and the church life in Brazil River of Life Ministries! Almost everyday, I worked with Brazilians and taught English within the churches. Your prayers and support have helped me fulfill God’s will and my dream to teach English in Brazil.” We are so thankful of what Jamie has accomplished in Brazil and please keep her in your prayers as she starts her final school year at Johnson University and last soccer season, go Royals!

  • We had the celebration of 10 years of the church at Bom Retiro on the 15th. We had the other churches of BROLM there to celebrate what God has done through Bom Retiro church. Cool fact this church is a Korean-Portuguese church with a service in Korean and another in Portuguese.

  • We had our monthly youth gatherings at the churches and it was a blessing! At Campo Limpo we reflected on who we are following and in Pirituba we reflected on who we are living for. One of the quotes that stuck in our minds was; "If the reason for your living is Christ, your life will be an epicenter of good convictions." - Patrick Valério. Our Motto is “Somos Um” (We are one) and our verse of the year is Romans 12:5.

  • Our hearts are full of gratitude for your generosity, for we have been blessed to help during the pandemic! We can continue to use your help; we can purchase food baskets for $15 each. If you would like to send a gift for this purpose, please write a memo? For Food Baskets! Thanks!

Report of July 2021

“Behold my servant, whom I uphold,

    my chosen, in whom my soul delights;

I have put my Spirit upon him;

he will bring forth justice to the nations.” (Isaiah 42:1).

Report of July 2021

At the start of the month of July, we celebrated 11 years of the church in Jundiaí! It was a beautiful celebration, where all the churches gather together in fellowship to praise the work God has done in that church. We honored the service of our dear friend and Pastor Rubão who passed away in March. And, we prayed over his younger daughter Marina, who is going to a school of missions to be a missionary. Our first missionary from the churches here in Brazil (Rio de Vida)! Please be praying for her life as she prepares for this amazing step of serving God. The sermon that day was an impact to all the churches of us to continue to work together in fellowship for the will of God. It was a heartfelt message delivered by Jeff Fife using the passage in Psalm 133.

We had our annual “Corn Harvest” where we used this opportunity to speak of the Gospel in a less formal setting and it was a blessing this year! Families coming together to celebrate and to pray through the struggles and victories in our lives. Of course, we had a lot of food made of corn to celebrate and have an amazing time of fellowship.

In this month we have celebrated 14 years of the church in Sao Mateus. On the 24th all the churches came together and worshiped the Lord our God through songs, words of encouragement, prayer, the Lord’s supper, and the Word of God being preached. We had an amazing time of gathering celebrating what God has done throughout the years and our hope is set on what God will continue to do through this youthful church. The church of Sao Mateus has a lot of youth where they find peace and nourishment through the Word of God where they would not be able to find anywhere else. Most of them have family members in the Brazilian organized crime and most of their families are broken households. Through this church they can find a new way of living, not through themselves, but now they live for Christ!

The blessing of helping those in need at this time of pandemic has been a great blessing and we would like to thank everyone that has helped us! We can continue to use your help; we can purchase food baskets for $15 each. If you would like to send a gift for this purpose, please write a memo? For Food Baskets! Thanks!

Report of June 2021

We had an amazing youth retreat! Even with all the regulations needed because of covid, we had an awesome event. Around 40 youth gather on the 26th of June. We had a worship service with participation of youth from the BROLM churches in Sao Paulo, lunch time, free time of fellowship, after a time of games, and another time of fellowship before each of them went to their homes.

We are so excited about the turn out of the ESL classes. Jamie Leaverton is doing an amazing job teaching on Wednesday nights at Campo Limpo and Thursday nights at Pirituba church. Also, she is tutoring two students that are more advanced in the English language. Jamie is reaching her internship goals and more by helping in the ministry with the youth and also helping in the kids ministry. She has taught a part of a worship song for the Sao Mateus youth and taught the Bible story in Pirituba. And she is excited to keep the good work for God’s kingdom.

The blessing of helping those in need at this time of pandemic has been a great blessing and we would like to thank everyone that has helped us! We can continue to use your help, we can purchase food baskets for $15 each. If you would like to send a gift for this purpose please write a memo? For Food Baskets! Thanks!

Report of May 2021

In the month of May a lot has happened.

Isaac and Monica came to the USA on April 29th and Jeff came on May 13th, the purpose of this trip was to visit some supporting churches and for Roger´s wedding.

Isaac visited SHCC at Seymour, TN, on Sunday May 2nd and it was an amazing visit, being able to see part of our family there and Jamie Leaverton was with Isaac too. However, on that Sunday we received some tough news as our dear friend Jim Knowles passed away.

Jim and Nancy (deceased 2012) Knowles were founders board members for BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries) and both served on the board until each went to their eternal home.

For us they were like parents to Jeff and Monica and grandparents to Roger and Isaac.

A friend, great man, elder, pastor, mentor, grandfather, father Jim Knowles will be missed so much and we thank the Lord for his fruitful life.

Jamie´s parents came from Virginia Beach on Saturday, May 15th, and Isaac and Jamie got engaged. They plan to get married when Jamie finishes her ESL degree at Johnson University, May 2022.

We all (Jeff, Monica, Roger, Kaitlyn, Isaac, Jamie, and Jamie´s parents) visited CFC at Kingsport, where Isaac preached and it was a great Sunday celebration. Jeff´s Mom (Libby) and Brother (Richard) were also present.

On Friday, May 21st, Jeff Fife had the honor to marry his oldest son Roger Fife to Kaitlyn French. It was a beautiful wedding and such a cozy day that God provided for their marriage.

On our last Sunday in the USA, May 23rd, we went to FCC at Johnson City, where Isaac had the honor to do communion meditation. The Fife’s were there with three generations of Fifes sitting at the second row celebrating with the FCC family the 150 years of missions!

With the support of our current supporters and more that will come, we believe God will continue to use our lives through BROLM to reach the Portuguese speaking-world for Jesus Christ!

On May 24th, Jeff, Monica, Isaac and Jamie went back to Brazil. Jamie will be in Brazil for 10 weeks doing her official ESL JU internship, thanks for all the gifts towards her internship.

We also thank everyone that has helped us purchase food baskets to help those in need at this time of great need as the pandemic is really affecting many lives in Brazil. Please, pray for us and if you would like to help we can purchase food baskets for USD$15 each and feed a family of 4 with basic food (rice, beans, spaghetti, oil, white flour, salt, sugar etc,) for 15 days.

We thank each one of you for prayers and financial support!

Monthly update of April 2021

Dear Friends and Family,

Unfortunately, we have some bad news. One of our dearest pastors, my mentor, teacher of many, friend for a lot of people, and considered part of my family, passed away on the 10th of April. Rubão impacted so many lives, that at his funeral service around 300 passed by the funeral in that quick one hour because of all the regulations. Rubão met my father in 2002 and they became best friends as brothers. In 2006 he came to Campo Limpo church, did the Hands On Bible College, and became an elder in the church. After finishing the HOBC he was separated for pastoral ministry and planted the church in Jundiaí with all the support of the mother church, Campo Limpo Paulista. He was a faithful man, an amazing teacher, pastor, mentor, father of two daughters, two grandsons, and loved Edna, his wife so much. Rubão will be remembered for demonstrating God’s love towards others. If I can put it in two words, Rubão showed Godly love.

Isaac Fife

We would like to thank all of you that have prayed for us and have given towards the Food Baskets, we have been helping many families at these difficult times. If you would like to help, we can purchase and help a family with food baskets for USD15,00 each.

As Isaac mentioned above, we lost one of our best workers that died of a heart attack during the treatment of the Covid pos-syndrome. Ruben Daniel Rodriguez (Robão), was 53 years-old, a schoolteacher, a preacher and a good friend. We have been helping his family and the church in Jundiaí to continue on after such a great loss.

As we mentioned in March´s report, Jamie Leaverton, Isaac´s future wife is coming to Brazil this summer for her official Johnson University Internship, we are helping her raise the funds for this purpose. She needs USD1,500.00 to pay for her tickets and expenses, she will be here from May 25 to August 10. Would you, please, help! Thanks! (Please, mention on your gift Jamie's Internship, Thanks).

Please, continue to pray for us, for good health, wisdom and for God's will in our lives.

Jeff Fife
