“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” Luke 2:14 (NRSV)

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-speaking world!
During this time of  year when we stop to be grateful for God’s perfect Gift, Jesus Christ our Savior, we would like to thank Him for you, for your prayers, and your support! Season's Blessings!

Here are some ministry highlights since our last report:

Visit from Portugal
Robert (Jeff’s brother and missionary to Portugal) came to Brazil the first week of September to take care of some personal matters in Goiania. He also came through Sao Paulo so he could talk about the HOBC (Hands On Bible College) in Portugal and get the materials to launch the HOBC there. As he was in Sao Paulo he spoke at Piracicaba, Bom Retiro and Pirituba Churches.
The HOBC inaugural class in Portugal met on Sep 26th. They are meeting the fourth Saturday of the month, for 6 hours.

Remodeling the Pirituba Church
In Sept  we began remodeling the Pirituba church. Lots of work has been done and there is still much more to be done. We started to build this building in 1991 and it was finished in 1994. After 21 years it needed lots of updating and fixing.
One of the highlights was to be able to install air conditioning. We were blessed by Bethany Christian Church with a gift that helped make this dream come true. Where we are located, we cannot leave windows and doors open during the service, or we are  fined by the city of Sao Paulo; thus AC was very needed.

Pirituba Church 23rd Anniversary
Our first church plant celebrated its 23rd anniversary in October.
At the celebration we were blessed in baptizing  four new converts. Marcelo and Daniela started to come to church a year ago with their two boys. Marcelo’s mom, Izilda, has been a member at the Pirituba church for about 20 years. This was a big answer to lots of prayers. Rhaissa’s father Luis, has been a member for 11 years; I (Jeff) baptized him in 2004. Rhaissa is 15 years old, and her parents are divorced. Simone is a nurse and Luis' girlfriend. And now they are all new creations!

Colonial Heights Christian Church in Brazil
We were so blessed in receiving a team from CHCC in Oct.
CHCC Team (from left to right on the back) Mark Haga, Sharon Hamilton, Mary Katherine Pool, David Roberts, Ken Buchanan & Doug Strickland. (Front) Phil Roberts, Denise Strickland, Ashley Roberts, Hillary Hughes & Andrew Haga.
The team arrived from Tennessee on Saturday Oct 10, and started working right away. They were part of the Anniversary Celebration at Pirituba, where they sang and Phil Roberts preached. On Sunday Oct 11, they visited Bom Retiro, and Sao Mateus Churches and they sang, did Communion meditation and preached at both churches. On Monday Oct 12, Children's Day and a holiday in Brazil, they were part of two children's outreaches-- one at Varzea Paulista and the other at Campo Limpo Paulista. At both outreaches they told stories and did a puppet show.
On Tuesday Oct 13, Monica’s birthday, we spent the day together at our home. On Wednesday Oct 14, we left Sao Paulo by airplane to Rio de Janeiro very early, and we enjoyed a beautiful day touring and seeing all the magnificent sites of Rio, especially the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Monica, Isaac and I were blessed by the team with the opportunity to go to Rio with them. Thursday Oct 15, they visited Jundiai church where they sang and preached, and on Friday Oct 16 they went back to the USA. One of the highlights of the CHCC team was seeing my cousin Sharon Hamilton, who came to Brasil back in 70’s and had the opportunity to come again. We did a lot more during the time they were here. We enjoyed very nice Brazilian meals, and  if anyone wants to know about this,  come visit us and you will try the best cuisine in the world!

Jundiai Church
On Nov 15 Jundiai Church baptized 3!

Lukas Cancer Treatment

In our last report we asked you to pray for Lukas who was baptized at the Recife Church and discovered a week later that he had cancer. In Dec, Brother Bruno took him to visit the Recife professional soccer team Sport Club--his favorite team. Lukas is very weak with the treatment, thus he needs to use a wheelchair so he can move around.

Brazil Ministry Transportation Need
We are trying to raise funds to purchase a van. Initially we were trying to raise $10,000 for 2010 van, however we have been able to find a very well-kept 2008 van (that we used to transport the CHCC team) for $8,000. The owner is holding the price and van for us until Dec 2015. We have raised $1,075 for this purpose and but still need to raise $6,925. If you would like to help with this, please let us know!

Prayer Request
Brother Gilberto, preacher at Sao Mateus Church, had some personal problems and left the church in August. We worked and prayed with the elders at Sao Mateus Church during the last few months-- seeking God’s will. In Nov Humberto, one of the elders of the church, felt God’s call to become the new preacher; thus on Nov 21 we ordained him to the ministry!

God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,

                    Thanks for praying for us!

They praised God and were liked by all the people. Every day the Lord added those who were being saved to the group of believers. Acts 2:47 (NCV)

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-speaking world!
We are in awe seeing the growth God is giving to His churches in Brazil.

Recife Church

The new church plant in Recife has baptized 15 this year. They had a unique baptism at the Boa Viagem beach, July 29. Bruno and his team are doing a great job in planting this new church.

Please, pray for Lukas, a week after he was baptized he was diagnosed with cancer and he is undergoing treatment.

Pray as the Recife Church looks for a bigger place to meet. They have outgrown the building they are renting.

In Sep Bruno Baptized Claudia and Junior.

Jundiai Church

Jundiai Church baptized 7, August 23!

From left to Right: Juliano, Monica, Juliana, Giovana, Luan, Claudia e Evandro.

Bom Retiro Church

On August 29, the Bom Retiro Youth Group spent the day at a camp and we were blessed to baptize Rafael, Thais and Igor.

Valparaiso Church

Brother Edgar, Minister at Valparaiso Church, reported 8 baptisms. Valparaiso is one of the most violent cities in Brazil, Brother Edgar and his team do a great job working with the youth.

Hands On Bible College

Our plan is to offer the Hands On Bible College at each local church. In August classes started in Pirituba, in September in Sao Mateus and in Portugal. The Hands On Bible College is being offered at Jundiai led by Ruben, at Campo Limpo Paulista led by Michel, at Pirituba and Sao Mateus led by Jeff, at Santos Dumont led by Luis, at Portugal led by Robert (Jeff’s brother) and at Mozambique led by Kleber. Pray as we plan and work toward offering Hands On Bible Colleges at all the local churches in Brazil and throughout the Portuguese-Speaking World.

Women’s Gathering

Monica spoke at Jundiai Church Women’s Gathering in August.

Brazil Ministry Transportation Need

We have a great need for a van for the ministry in Brazil and we are trying to raise $10,000 to purchase one. As of October 7th we have received $1,075 toward this need. Thus we only need $8,925 to reach this goal. If you can help, please send your check to Brazil River of Life Ministries with "Brazil Van" written in the memo.

Change of Plans
Monica and I were planning to be in the USA in the end of the year for Roger’s graduation, however Roger is not graduating in December anymore. Thus we are not coming to the USA this year. When we have a new date for coming to the USA we will let you know.

Pray Request
Since we moved back to Brazil fulltime in May, we have faced lots of needs among the churches—especially among the church leaders. Please pray with us for wisdom in dealing with all the needs we are facing.

God is doing great things through BROLM among the Portuguese-speaking world, and your prayers and support are vital! Please continue to pray so the Lord will use BROLM more and more for His honor and glory!
May the Lord richly bless you in Christ Jesus!

God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,

Thanks for praying for us!

But I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost; for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. 1 Corinthians 16.8-9 (NASB)

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-speaking world!
The apostle Paul wanted to visit the church in Corinth. However, a wide door for effective service was open before him. Even though there were many adversaries he stayed longer in Ephesus (1 Co 16:8-9). The reason I (Jeff) am mentioning this to you is because I was supposed to go to Mozambique and Angola in July/August this year; however there are so many wide doors open for effective service right now in Brazil. Because of this, I have postponed the mission trip to Mozambique and Angola. Now the doors are not the only thing we have in common with Paul right now--there are many adversaries too! Please pray for the leaders of the churches in Brazil--some are discouraged and some are having marriage and family troubles. Brazil is under the biggest financial crises in the last 20 years. Lots of people are losing their jobs, prices are going up almost daily, and the political scenery is chaotic. Monica’s health has not been the best--she is having lots of headache crises. She usually has a crisis once every 45 days, and lately it has been weekly.

Great Blessing
For years we have tried to get Monica to become a USA citizen. During the first week of July we received a letter from Immigration Notarization Services scheduling  Monica to be in Memphis, TN, on Friday, July 17, 2015, for a naturalization ceremony. Thus, Monica left Brazil on the 13th and became an America citizen on the 17th. She stayed a few days with Roger and  arrived back in Brazil on the 30th. We would like to thank everyone who prayed for this process and we would like to thank the Lutzes for taking Monica to Memphis and for hosting her. She said she was treated like a princess! Thanks!

 Isaac First Communion Meditation
On the third Sunday of each month the Pirituba Church Youth Ministry leads the worship service. In July Isaac was responsible for the communion meditation. It was his first communion meditation. He did a great job and loved doing it! Now in August he is responsible for the offering meditation. Isaac started to play drums for the worship team when he was 7 years old, and he studied music and drums for many years. Over the last couple months he decided he wanted to learn to play the guitar, and he is already playing the guitar for the worship team too.
Isaac is helping greatly with the youth and worship teams at Bom Retiro’s and Pirituba’s churches. It is a blessing to have him working with us in the ministry!

Harvest Outreach
As you know, south of the equator it is winter. (Brazil is having the warmest and driest winter in the last 30 years!) Corn harvest in Brazil is during June and July, and every year for over 20 years, the Pirituba Church has a Corn Harvest Outreach. Everything that is served at the outreach is made from corn--the only things that it are not made from corn  are Monica’s brownies. A lot of hard work goes into the preparation for this outreach. The ladies, with the help of some men, work for hours until late at night getting everything ready. During the outreach there are games for the children to play and lots of food. This year we had a tremendous turnout with many visitors from the neighborhood. We are praying that those who came and heard the gospel will continue to come and will soon be baptized.

Bom Retiro Youth Group
The Bom Retiro Church is doing a great job in reaching the youth. In July brother Pedro Park, chairman of the elders, opened his house for an afternoon of Bible studies. Afterward, they served a great Brazilian Churrasco (barbecue).

Brazil Ministry Transportation Need
We have a great need of a van for the ministry in Brazil and we are trying to raise $10,000 to purchase a 2010 van. As of August 10th we have received $900 toward this need. Thus we only need $9,100 to reach this goal. If you can help, please send your check to Brazil River of Life Ministries with "Brazil Van" written in the memo.

Since 1931, a 120-foot tall statue of Jesus has stood with his head angled downward toward the city of Rio de Janeiro. Down below in the city, however, Jesus' presence is less visible. Watch this video (http://www.themissionsnetwork.com/index.php/component/preachit/message/pray-for-brazil?Itemid=435) and, please, Pray for Brazil!
