DEC 30, 2014
Dear friends,
Greeting from your coworkers to the Portuguese-Speaking World!
Thank you for making 2014 such a blessed year for BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministry)! Your continued prayer and support of this ministry helps us to reach the Portuguese-Speaking World for Christ so they can reach the rest of the world. Through Evangelism, Discipleship and Planting New Churches BROLM is fulfilling the Great Commission.
As you consider your end of year giving, would you prayerfully consider a gift to BROLM? The giving of partners like you helps us to reach the goals that we believe God has set for us! As we approach the end of 2014 we have two great needs for 2015:
1.     2015 New Church Plant Goals - For 2015 BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries) is raising an extra $12,000 for church plants. The plan is to help plant two new churches with this one-time gift. We are happy to announce that BROLM has received $7,000 for this purpose. Would you please, consider helping us raise the remaining $5,000 so BROLM can plant two new churches in 2015?
2.     Hope Mission Water Well - When the Hope Mission moved from Napipine to Namicopo in Nampula, Mozambique in 2006, there was a possibility that they would have city water at the new location. However, that has not happened. The truth is that Nampula does not have water in over 60% of the city and the locations that do have city water do not have any water pressure; thus the Hope Mission needs a well. This well will serve the 1000+ students who study at the Hope School, the 100+ boys and girls who live at the Hope Home, and will serve over 10 families of teachers and evangelists who live at the Mission. It will also make it possible for them to have agriculture and some animals too. The cost to dig the well is $12,000 and the cost for the water pump and pipes is $3,000 for a total of $15,000. We have already been blessed with a gift of $1,000 for this purpose, but we still need $14,000. Would you please consider helping us with this project?
To give an end of year tax deductible gift to BROLM, please, mail your gift to:
P.O. Box 8262
Gray, TN 37643
Be sure it is postmarked by December 31st to qualify for your giving for 2014!
May the Lord richly bless your 2015 for His honor and glory in Jesus name!
Blessings!
God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,

4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children.  Galatians 4:4-5 (NRSV)

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-Speaking World!

God waited until history reached the appointed time, and sent Jesus. At the right time—Roman government, Jewish subordination, good roads, freedom, a degree of security, a broad commercial-use language, cruel and barbaric punishments accompanied by religious rivalry. In times like these, He sent his Son to be the son of a woman. He emptied His house so that he could send a redeemer to our house. He did this so we could be His children; not pretend children, but real children, with all rights. Not only so He could be our God but also our Father. What a privilege to call the Creator Father! This is only possible because He sent His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ.

Let us share with you some ministry highlights:

Women’s Outreach
In September the church in Sao Mateus promoted a Women’s Outreach. This church has grown a lot among the youth, however, Patricia, Gilberto’s (minister) wife does a great job in leading the women and she has been able to reach many women for the Lord.

 Couple’s Outreach
The new church plant in Recife promoted a couple’s outreach in November. Bruno (minister) and his wife Luciene have a passion for couple’s ministry and this is the second couple’s retreat they promoted this year. This has been a great way to reach new people to come to this new church plant and they have seen many marriages being healed.

 Pirituba’s Church Anniversary
The Pirituba church was the first church we helped plant back in 1992. This church has gone through a lot during the 22 years of its existence, however it continues to strive for God’s honor and glory. This is the church that I (Jeff) was asked to come back and pastor in 2012. It has been a time of healing for the church members, however, we are seeing real growth and are very happy to see what God is doing —especially through the youth ministry. If you look closely at the picture you will see that I was preaching through Webex and using Power Point. Technology used for God’s glory is a blessing! Please continue to pray for a total restoration of the Pirituba church. Monica and I will be going to Brazil on January 6, 2015, so we can invest more time at this church.

 2015 New Church Plant Goals
For 2015 BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries) is raising an extra $12,000 for church plants. The plan is to help plant two new churches with this one-time gift. We are happy to announce that BROLM has received $7,000 for this purpose. Would you please, consider helping us raise the remaining $5,000 so BROLM can plant two new churches in 2015?

Hope School Mozambique
The school year at the Hope School in Mozambique ended with a parent/teacher meeting. The school year starts in February and ends in November. The school offers classes from 1st to 8th grade, and this year they had 1070 students; the capacity of the school is 1000 students. 98% of the students who study at the Hope School are Muslims and they are learning about Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. For these students the Hope School is the only option they have to learn how to read and write. During the second week of December the school opened for 2015 registration and they had 1000 students registered in 4 days. If they had more space to offer more classes they could register at least 1500 students. Please pray for the Hope School!

 Hope Mission Water Well
When the Hope Mission moved from Napipine to Namicopo in Nampula, Mozambique in 2006, there was a possibility that they would have city water at the new location. However, that has not happened. The truth is that Nampula does not have water in over 60% of the city and the locations that do have city water do not have any water pressure; thus the Hope Mission needs a well. God is doing great things through BROLM among the Portuguese-Speaking World, and your prayers and support are vital! Please continue to pray so the Lord will use BROLM more and more for His honor and glory!

Monica and I would like to thank you for your prayers and financial support during 2014. Everything the Lord did through BROLM in 2014 was because people like you accepted His called to pray and financially support us! We need you to continue praying and financially supporting BROLM in 2015.

May the Lord richly bless you in Christ Jesus!
God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,
Thanks for praying for us!

NOVEMBER 2014
16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

(To enlarge the pictures click on them)

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-Speaking World!

Paul gives us in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 the key to being joyful always--that is to pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your prayers and financial support during 2014. We've been blessed beyond measure!

Let us share with you some ministry blessings:

“Hands On” Bible College

In our last report we presented the need of $10,000 to reach the 2015 budget goal of $13,860 for our “Hands On” Bible College program. Our Lord is so gracious and we received a gift of $10,000 for this purpose last month. This meets the need to institute “Hands On” Bible College in Angola, Guinea Bissau, and Portugal and at all BROLM churches in Brazil in 2015. We will also include the two new church plants in Fortaleza and Recife as well work toward offering the “Hands On” Bible College online. Thank you Lord!

Outreach in Pirituba

August 2nd, the Pirituba Church promoted a friendship tea and Monica spoke; people love to hear her speak. These friendship teas are great opportunities for the members to bring their families and friends.  There were several visitors at this outreach! What a blessing!

Southeast Brazil Convention

On August 9th leaders and members from most of the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ of Southeast Brazil met for the annual convention at the Campo Limpo Paulista Church. This is only a one day event; however, it is a great opportunity to worship our Lord and fellowship with brothers and sisters from several locations. Brother Gerson, my Dad’s (Tom Fife) Timothy, minister at the Taguatinga Church in Brasilia and President of the National Convention was the main speaker. Praise the Lord!

 Bom Retiro Church Anniversary

During the month of August we worked on fixing the roof, replacing the pulpit carpet with title, fixing miscellaneous items, and installing new lighting at the Pirituba Church.

New Youth Program

During the summer we worked with Ricardo and Denise, volunteer youth leaders, to help them revitalize the youth program at the Pirituba Church. Ricardo is an Oral Surgeon and his wife Denise is a Dentist; they have a passion for the youth and do a great job. After many planning meetings, we launched the new youth program on August 23. They are meeting on Saturdays for worship, teaching, Bible trivia, snacks, and lots of fellowship. The big hit for them is the ping pong table! The new program is going very well. We already have 19 youth that will participate in the multi-church Youth Camp that will be held in February 2015.

 Pirituba Baptism

On August 24th I (Jeff) had the privilege of baptizing Iza and Davi. Iza's mom Romilda has been a member of the Pirituba Church for the last 20 years. Iza is 49 years-old, a single mom that would come to church once in a while, and always told me she would never be baptized. I heard this for years! However, this year something new happened. Iza finally understood God’s plan for salvation and her life was totally changed! Davi, who is 14 years old, has parents, Marcio and Simone, who have been members at Pirituba for the last 16 years, and we have known Davi since he was a little boy. It is always a great joy to baptize those you've known for many years. It is very special to see them make the decision to have Christ has their only savior.

SHCC
We will be at Seymour Heights Christian Church Nov 30th. Jeff will preach in both services. If you would like us to visit your church, please contact us soon as we are planning to leave to Brazil in January 2015.

Prime Time FCC-JC
We will be at First Christian Church in Johnson City Dec 14th sharing with the Prime Time Sunday School Class at 11 am.

BROLM Board

BROLM Board met on Nov 12. At the meeting Brother Tim Shields, who has been serving as Chairman for BROLM, announced that he will be working as Executive Director with HCM (Hisportic Christian Mission). For this reason he tendered his resignation. Brother Jim Knowles assumed the position as Interim Chairman for BROLM! We thank Tim Shields for his service with BROLM and we pray the Lord will bless him as he works with HCM. Please pray as we search for new board members and a new Chairman for BROLM.

ICOM 2014

We had a great time at ICOM (International Conference on Missions) in Columbus, OH, Nov 13-16. Great fellowship, worship and messages focused on prayer. It is always good to see old friends and meet new ones at ICOM.

God is doing great things through BROLM, and your prayers and support are vital! Please continue to pray so the Lord will use BROLM more and more for His honor and glory!

May the Lord richly bless you in Christ Jesus!
God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,
Thanks for praying for us!

OCTOBER 2014
So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers. Acts 16:5

Dear Friends and Prayer Warriors,

Greetings from your coworkers to the Portuguese-Speaking World!

As we work with the churches BROLM (Brazil River of Life Ministries) has planted in Brazil and the two new church plants, Fortaleza and Recife, it is tremendous to see the churches being strengthened in faith and growing.

Let us share with you some ministry highlights:

Natalia’s and Orli’s Wedding
July 5th, I (Jeff) was blessed with the opportunity to celebrate Natalia’s and Orli’s wedding. We've known Natalia since 1994 (she was 6 years-old), when her Mom (Sonia) and her older brother (Felipe), who is an elder in training, became members of the Pirituba Church. We met Orli a year ago and we are praying for his conversion. He comes from a family that split because of religion.

New Members – Pirituba Church
July 6 we received the Cardoso Oliveira family as new members at the Pirituba Church. Jefferson and Andrea have 5 boys (Daniel – 16  Bruno – 14, Andre – 12, Estevam – 9 and Calebe – 8 months-old). For about a year this family was without a home church, they started attending Pirituba in March 2014, when Calebe was only one month-old. They were invited by Mauro, one of the elders at Pirituba Church. At this opportunity we also presented Calebe to the Lord. What a blessing!

 Corn Festival – Pirituba Church
Every year in July the Pirituba Church promotes an outreach called Corn Festival. It is corn harvest in Brazil at the end of fall and the beginning of winter. For several days the ladies from the church get together to bake corn breads, cakes, soup, etc. During the festival we receive several people from the Pirituba area; there is live music and Pirituba members handout invitations for people to come to church. It is hard work to put the Corn Festival together; however it is always rewarding to see people come to church because of the festival.

Jessica’s and Lucas’s Wedding
July 19th,  I (Jeff) was honored to celebrate Ruben’s (minister at Jundia Church) daughter Jessica’s wedding. We have known Jessica since 2002 and Lucas since 2011. Lucas is the worship leader at the Jundia church.

New Church Plant in Fortaleza

July 21st-23rd, I (Jeff) went to Fortaleza, to visit Brother Pedro and his family, and to meet the brothers and sisters that are planting the new church in the Montense and Vila União neighborhoods in the city of Fortaleza, State of Ceará.

Monday afternoon I met with two other ministers with whom Pedro has helped plant churches: Amadeu from the Timbó Church and Josemar Quintino from the Cunha Church.
Monday night I spoke to a small group that meets at the Timbó Church and had a meeting with the church leadership.

Tuesday morning we visited several tourist sites in Fortaleza and on Tuesday afternoon we met with a few of the group that is planting the new church at Montense and Vila União with Pedro and his family. The church plant location is a challenge because Montense is a middle-class neighborhood and Vila União is a slum. The church that is meeting at Pedro’s house is right on the division between the two neighborhoods. Pray for this new church!

Tuesday evening I spoke at a home group from the Quintino Cunha Church, Pedro has worked helping Josemar plant this church in the last 3 years and the church is doing very well. All of these churches are planted based on small groups.

New Church Plant in Recife
On Wednesday, July 23rd, I traveled to Recife by plane to meet Brother Bruno, his wife Luciene and the members of the church they are planting in Areias, Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco. The Areias church was meeting in homes. In March 2014, they rented a small building and started meeting on Sundays and Wednesdays at the rental location. However, they still have home groups during the week.

Wednesday evening I spoke at the church service and met the members of this new church plant. It was a great celebration!

Thursday we had lunch with Starla Azevedo, David Sanders' daughter who works with Brazil Christian Mission. In the afternoon we saw many tourists’ sites in Recife and in the evening I spoke at one of the home groups.

 “Hands On” Bible College
The plans to institute “Hands On” Bible College in Angola, Guinea Bissau, and Portugal have been changed to the first semester of 2015. Also, we plan to institute the “Hands On” Bible College at all BROLM churches in Brazil including the two new church plants in Fortaleza and Recife in 2015. Another exciting opportunity is the possibility of offering the “Hands On” Bible College online in 2015. The budget for BROLM to offer “Hands On” Bible College throughout the Portuguese-Speaking World and online for 2015 is $13,860; we have $3,860 for this purpose, so we still need to raise $10,000 to reach this goal.

Available to Speak
We are available to speak and visit our supporters from October 1 to December 31. Here is our present schedule:
Nov 1-2 – First Christian Church Johnson City, TN
Nov 13-16 – ICOM in Columbus, OH (Exhibit 1105)
Nov 30 – Seymour Heights Christian Church

God is doing great things through BRoLM, and your prayers and support are vital! Please continue to pray so the Lord will use BRoLM more and more for His honor and glory!

May the Lord richly bless you in Christ Jesus!
God is good, all the time; and He is acting among us!
In HIS Love and Service,
Thanks for praying for us!
